Monday, August 30th, was my birthday—and it was also the fifth anniversary of making coaching my full-time work through amkcareer & leadership coaching.
I’ve been coaching for more than 20 years. Along the way, I’ve continued to learn, earn certifications, adapt my practice, and explore the changes shaping our careers and workplaces—including helping clients understand what AI is today and what it may mean for their careers in the future, just like I did with email – and the internet – in my early career.
but when I think about these years, it’s the people and the conversations I celebrate.
I’ve been alongside people as they’ve found their voices in boardrooms, navigated tricky leadership situations, recognized accomplishments they had almost overlooked, found some peace with a fear, advocated for themselves, explored new possibilities, and felt more empowered and seen.
There have been big decisions and small shifts.
A-ha moments when something suddenly looks different.
And lots of laughter.
Sometimes coaching is about a big career decision.
Sometimes it’s simply having a place to think out loud and hear your own voice a little more clearly.
i love this work.
So this week, I’m celebrating a birthday, five years of AMKcoach.com, more than 20 years of coaching, and all of the people who have trusted me to sit alongside them for part of their journey.
Five years into this chapter, I’m still learning, still celebrating, and still excited about what’s possible next.
so, in the spirit of coaching, I’ll offer a suggestion for you to consider…
If you’d like to celebrate with me, take five minutes today. Listen to a favorite song. Step outside. Get a cup of coffee or tea. Call someone who makes you laugh. Do something small and acknowledge it as a sparkle of celebration.
